Artemis II Lands: NASA Tryna Distract Us From Real Issues?
They sendin' folks to the moon, but what 'bout the folks on the block?
Aight, so NASA 'bout to splash down this Artemis II, right? Four astronauts went on a joyride 'round the moon. They sayin' it's a big step towards gettin' back to the moon. But, I gotta ask, is this really what we need right now? Artemis II mission got four astronauts.
They talkin' 'bout testin' the spaceship and all that, but what 'bout testin' the water in Flint, Michigan? What 'bout testin' the air quality in the hood? They got money for space travel, but not for the folks down here struggle-bussin' every day?
This spaceship, they launched it on a big rocket. Cost more than a whole 'hood's worth of rent for a year. They talkin' 'bout 'American leadership' and all that, but leadership gotta start at home, ya feel me?
Back in the day, they went to the moon. But that was when segregation was still poppin'. While they celebratin' up there, folks down here were gettin' hosed down and treated like less than human. Now, they wanna go back? Still ain't fixed the problems from back then.
Artemis II is the first time in a minute they sent folks up there. They call it Artemis after some Greek goddess. Cool. But how many Black and Brown kids even get a chance to work at NASA? They need to make sure everybody gettin' a seat at the table, not just the same old faces.
This splashdown gonna let them check out the spaceship. Bet they gonna spend millions just lookin' at it. But they can't spend a dime on affordable housing? On job training for the youth? On food for the community? Something ain't right.
The whole Artemis program is 'bout landin' folks on the moon. Then they gonna build a base up there? While we still fightin' for basic rights down here? They need to focus on fixin' Earth before tryin' to colonize the moon.
They sayin' this gonna inspire folks. But what inspires me is seein' my community thrive. Seein' kids get a good education. Seein' folks get a fair chance. Space travel is cool, but it ain't gonna feed my family.
NASA officials be talkin' 'bout how important this is. But to me, what's important is that my people are treated with respect. That we get the same opportunities as everybody else. That we ain't forgotten 'bout.
Artemis II splishin' and splashin', but I'm still lookin' for real change. I'm still waitin' for them to invest in the community. I'm still waitin' for them to show us that they really care.
They had some problems buildin' this thing. But they always find a way to get money for space. What about the problems WE facing on the daily? Where that money at?
As Artemis II gets ready to splash down, I'm gonna keep it real. They need to do better. They need to focus on the problems down here, not just the dreams up there. Gotta keep it 100, no cap. Peace.
